My typical day in 2023
What do my days look like at the moment? Here's a sneak peek.
My life has changed a lot over the last year.
- New job
- New baby
- New hobbies
Unsurprisingly, my routines have had to change to match.
My hope is that by sharing my typical routine for today, I'll have a reference for the future to compare how my life has changed.
- 5:30-6:00 – woken by my son. On a good day I can still read some scripture, most days I distract him from waking his siblings.
- 6:00-8:00 – Kids awake, get coffee, get breakfast, get changed.
- 8:00 – start work and prep for the day; probably a quick call with the creative director to clarify the top priority.
- 9:00-10:00 – working. Most days I might have some music on, If it's a brain-dead task (spreadsheets) then I can listen to a podcast.
- 10:15 ish – break - get up, grab some water and maybe a snack.
- 10:15-12:00 – working again.
- 12:00-12:15 – lunch. This can shift by up to two hours depending on work/unexpected calls.
- 12:15-14:00 – working again.
- 14:00 – usually I have a call with the creative director to round out her day.
- 14:30 – break, more water.
- 14:30-16:00 – back to work
- 16:00 – shutdown routine. putting things away, closing apps and generally leaving work behind.
- 16:30 – Time with kids. It had been going to the park and playground but with the weather worsening, it will probably be more inside time.
- 18:00 – food. Most meals take about 30 minutes to cook
- 18:30 – More games with kids
- 19:00-20:00 – bedtime routine for kids.
- 20:00 – either taking a moment to breathe or doing some quick tidying. Maybe having dinner if I didn't manage to when the kids did.
- 20:30 – study, write or draw except on Wednesday night when I watch a series with my wife and Friday when we kick off our Sabbath.
- 22:00 – start of bedtime routine going to bed at around 22:30
This seems like a pretty good rough outline though I know I'm missing some steps, plus on some weeks I have band practice for the Church band on Thursday. It's also going to be different for the next few months as I've just started a new course at Bible College on Hermeneutics.
Still, I hope you find it interesting.
